Why you’re still stuck in your business (even though you def’ know what to do)
Amy is brilliant. She’s a sales trainer with a CV full of big tech names, incredible at what she does, and genuinely helps people not only make more money in their businesses but show up with confidence.
She’s also a mum, running her business around the school run and within the school day.
So… she’s working with a lot less time and space than most business advice assumes.
The “I should be able to figure this out” trap
Over 2025, Amy had almost booked a session with me three separate times. Every time she got close, she stopped herself.
Why?
Because she felt like she should be able to figure it out on her own.
Especially with her sales background, she knew what she needed to do in theory:
email her list
set up a proper welcome sequence
show up more consistently
Easy breezy, right?
But instead, she kept kicking it down the road.
“I’ll sort it next week.”
“I just need to sit down and focus and I’ll get it done.”
“I should be able to do this myself.”
Sound familiar?
You know the feeling. You sit down to do something that should take five minutes… and somehow half the day disappears.
Why being capable doesn’t mean it’s easy
And oh boy, do I get it.
When you’re smart, capable, and genuinely excellent at what you do, it feels like you should be able to do everything yourself.
Technically, you probably can DIY it, it might not be perfect, but you can do it.
Buuuuuut, being good at your work doesn’t magically give you:
time
energy
clarity
or the ability to see your own business objectively
Especially when you’re already juggling 754385493 things. So things stay messy, half-done, to do lists living in your notes app.
What actually changed for Amy
Amy kicked booking a Biz Reset Session down the road for 11 months, and then within 24 hours of finally doing it?
She was on fireeee, all the blocks in her path had been cleared away.
She had:
written her welcome sequence (that we mapped out together)
sent an email to her list to re-engage them
AND had three bookings from people who had completely forgotten about her
Not because she suddenly became more talented or “finally got her act together”. But because she stopped trying to do everything alone.
What happened next
Amy now sends weekly emails that get great engagement. But more importantly:
People are replying, booking, remembering that she exists.
But none of that happened for nearly a year… because she thought she should be able to figure it out by herself.
The real problem (and what you actually need)
And I see this all the time, so let me say this clearly:
Fuck shoulds and shame. You don’t need them.
What you do need is:
space
support
and someone to help you actually untangle what’s going on
Especially when you’re working with limited time, energy, and capacity. You deserve to be well resourced in every area of your life.
Who decided that there was some kind of moral high ground in doing everything alone and not outsourcing where we need help?
If you’re feeling stuck right now…
If something in your marketing or business just isn’t clicking… if you know what to do but you’re not doing it, or you keep pushing it to “next week”…
This might be your sign.
